Taylor Haddow’s First Month as a Trainee at Jones Whyte
It has been just over a month since we welcomed our newest cohort of trainees who are embarking on their two-year traineeship program, dedicated to acquiring expertise and honing their skills in various legal areas.
In our latest blog post, we speak to one of our new Trainee Solicitors, Taylor Haddow, who shares insights and experiences from his first month at Jones Whyte.
How were your first few days?
“The first few days at Jones Whyte involved me being integrated into my team, and generally shadowing other members of the firm, as well as helping on certain tasks. The tasks were mainly taking down precognitions, as well as phoning clients more generally.”
How do you feel now you’re one month into your traineeship?
“My first month with the firm has been superb. I was immediately made to feel welcome by everyone, especially my fellow team members. I would say a standout moment was having my first hearing, mainly because it means I’ve gotten the first one out of the way.”
What aspects of work have you found to be most enjoyable?
“In terms of the aspects of work I’ve found most enjoyable, I would say the general workload given to me by supervisor and other team members, mostly because it is so varied. This has meant there’s always an interesting task waiting to be completed. I would also say meeting everyone has been enjoyable, especially since everybody is happy to answer my questions.”
My primary area of focus is Public Liability and Accidents at Work. This covers such a wide range of scenarios and means I am constantly having to handle new challenges.
What are you most looking forward to?
“Continuing to work in my team and department, as well as becoming more proficient with tasks that are involved in this area of practice. I am also looking forward to further assisting clients and making a positive contribution as a member of my team and department.”
