Fiance(e) Visa Legal Support, Scotland

Get in touch

The Fiance(e) Visa allows non-UK nationals to enter the UK for the opportunity to marry (or enter into a civil partnership) with their British partner.

There are several requirements when applying for a Fiance(e) Visa to the UK. These are:

  • You and your prospective spouse must be 18 years old or over.
  • The British partner must earn more than £18,600 per year or have enough savings to be able to sponsor you. The minimum financial requirement is higher if they are also sponsoring dependent children.
  • The non-British partner must not work during the 6 month validity period the visa is granted for.
  • You must be able to demonstrate that you are involved in a genuine relationship and intend to marry in the UK within the 6 month validity period.
  • You have to have met face-to-face.
  • You must have suitable accommodation for you, your spouse and any dependents.

If you do not marry within six months of entering the UK, this would be considered a breach of the visa.

Once you are married, you can apply for a Spouse Visa.

If you need to discuss any issues, contact the experienced Fiance(e) Visa lawyers at Jones Whyte today.

Financial requirements

You do not need to pay the International Health Surcharge when using a Fiance(e) Visa, however, there are still financial requirements.

The UK government requires a fee of £1538 to process the visa. As the non-British partner is not allowed to work during the six month visa, the British sponsor must earn at least £18,600, or have savings to support you.

Contact a Fiance(e) Visa lawyer at Jones Whyte to discuss the requirements and ensure your eligibility.
