Ramsay Kershaw

After graduating from Strathclyde University with a first-class LLB, Ramsay joined Jones Whyte as a Legal Assistant in 2021. Having also studied Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Ramsey is fluent in Spanish (C1 level). Ramsay has sat exams in Spanish language, as well as Spanish-English translation and interpretation, receiving distinction. Ramsay will shortly be undertaking a Diploma in Legal Practice beginning September 2022 to allow him to take the next steps in his legal career.

Since joining Jones Whyte’s busy Trust Management team, Ramsay has been involved in a number of different roles. Ramsay began working as a call handler – the first point of contact for those in need of legal advice. The majority of this work involved dealing with clients who had set up Trusts with McClure solicitors. Given that this was often the first contact many of these clients have had with our firm, it was essential to instill confidence from day one.

This allowed him to gain experience and build confidence in speaking with clients about a number of different areas whilst also familiarising himself with the basics of Trust Management.

Ramsay’s current role focuses on ensuring that the transition process for ex-McClure clients wishing to instruct Jones Whyte runs as smoothly as possible. Where instructed, we begin by reviewing the Trust of every client. This extensive review process allows us to make sure that everything is in order and ensure that any potential issues are identified and addressed from the get-go. In doing so, we make certain that our clients are getting the maximum benefit possible from their Trusts.

Ramsay is involved in conducting one-on-one appointments with clients in which, step by step, we talk them through our report in detail, discuss any recommendations that Jones Whyte have in relation to their Trusts and answer any general Trust-related questions that they may have.
