Karyn is a Litigation Paralegal. She joined Jones Whyte in December 2020. Karyn has 8 years of experience in dealing with personal injury claims, the majority of which arise from road traffic accidents.
Karyn became a fully qualified Paralegal in 2018. Karyn deals with both pre-litigation and litigated cases. As a result, Karyn’s role spans across both the Pre-Litigation and the Litigation teams within the firm. Karyn deals with claims from the outset up to the Proof, should the matter be litigated.
Karyn’s day-to-day work is maintaining relationships with clients and sources of business and corresponding with different insurance and accident management companies, together with Defender’s solicitors. Within her role, Karyn requires to assess prospects and communicate this to both the client and referrer with detailed reasoning and evidence. Karyn is responsible for assessing all heads of claim and valuing them in order to intimate the third party and/or their solicitors.
Karyn reviews case law in order to reach her valuations. Karyn has experience with credit hire disputes and liaising with credit hire companies advising them as to what compensation they are likely to receive. In terms of litigation, Karyn drafts court documents from the Initial Writ/Summons to the final documentation to dispose of the action.
Karyn has experience in dealing with more complicated litigated actions and has experience in instructing and consulting with Counsel. Karyn has years of experience in dealing with litigated cases ranging from Summary Cause level to Ordinary Cause and All Scotland Personal Injury Court (ASPIC).
Karyn has advised that the most rewarding part of her role is achieving the best possible settlement for her clients.
