Gemma began her journey at Jones Whyte in September 2021 as an Admin Assistant within the Bereavement Team within Private Client. Gemma is now a trainee paralegal working as a case handler within the Trust Management and Care Team within Private Client. Before this, she studied Criminal Justice at the University of the West of Scotland where she received her Honours degree.
Starting her career at Jones Whyte as an admin assistant helped Gemma to develop an insight into the work that was carried out by Private Client. Gemma very quickly became interested in the legal side and was keen to pursue her interest in Law.
An announcement was made within the firm regarding a Paralegal Training Academy and Gemma jumped at the opportunity and applied. In November 2021, she became a Trainee Paralegal within Private Client. Gemma was originally placed on the Bereavement team where she spent 4 months handling Trust Death cases.
Gemma was then given the opportunity to move to the Trust Management team as a case handler. Gemma finds working in the Trust Management Team hugely rewarding.
The majority of cases Gemma works on are former McClure’s cases. Gemma’s job as a case handler is to meet with clients following their Trust Review, advising them of any recommendations that we have and taking instruction to bring their trusts up to date, ensuring they are in a position that the settlors intended them to be.
“Being able to action the recommendations, putting client’s minds at ease and reassuring them their trusts are in order, is very rewarding.”
